北野武と鈴木慶一、初のコラボレーション!! 第60回ベネチア国際映画祭にて監督賞にあたる銀獅子賞を獲得した、北野監督初の時代劇「座頭市」のオリジナルサウンドトラック。タップダンスやお笑い的要素などをふんだんに折り込むなど様々なアイディアで、既存の時代劇のイメージを一新させる一大エンターテインメント!! 今回、音楽に起用にされたのはムーンライダーズの鈴木慶一。結成28年目のねじれたロックバンドのリーダーを指名したあたりにも、「意気」が感じられる。リズム、ベース、メロディーなど、全て時代劇という枠に寄り添わない無二の音楽を創造、サントラだけでも楽しめること間違いなし!!
