[Machine Translation] Tokyo-based jump-blues band, Drinkin' Hoppies! This new album was recorded, mixed, produced, and performed by Mitsuyoshi Agatsuma, a great predecessor in the jump & jive world. The third album by the Drinkin' Hoppies, one of Japan's rare 12-piece jump blues band with 8 pipes and 4 rhythms, sings the spirit of the 1930s and 1940s in Japanese to revive the popular black music of the time. The lyrics are humorous at best, and jokey at worst, but the performance is based on swing and boogie-woogie, and you can feel a great respect for the black music of the time (as it should be). The entire album is lined with jump numbers, but it is also an ambitious work that challenges calypso ( M10 ) and Cuban song ( M4 ). Continuing from the previous album, Mitsuyoshi Agatsuma ( Mitsuyoshi Agatsuma & The Swingin' Boppers ) was in charge of recording. For this album, Mr. Agatsuma not only recorded but also produced. In addition, he participated as a guest musician on three songs, singing, playing guitar, and playing tipple. The album was recorded in about three shots, halfway through, on old-fashioned digital tape (mainly for economic reasons). The bonus track features a guest appearance by Swingin' Boppers bassist Yutaka Maki.
都内を中心に活動するジャンプ・ブルース・バンド、ドリンキン・ホッピーズ! ジャンプ&ジャイヴ界の偉大すぎる先達、吾妻光良氏の録音、ミックス、プロデュース&客演によるニュー・アルバム。日本でも数少ない、8管+4リズム、総勢12人編成の本格派ジャンプ・ブルース・バンド、ドリンキン・ホッピーズの3rdアルバム。1930〜40年代の黒人大衆音楽を現代に蘇らせるべく、当時の心意気を日本語で唄う。ゆえに、よく言えばユーモアあふれる、悪く言えばふざけた歌詞ばかりだが、演奏についてはスウィング、ブギウギをベースに、当時の黒人音楽に対する多大なリスペクトが感じられる(はず)。全編を通して痛快なジャンプ・ナンバーが並ぶが、カリプソ(M10)やキューバのソン(M4)にも挑戦した意欲作。前作に引き続き、吾妻光良氏(吾妻光良&ザ・スウィンギン・バッパーズ)が録音を担当。本作においては、吾妻氏は録音のみならず、プロデュースも担当。さらに、ゲスト・ミュージシャンとして歌、ギター、ティプレで3曲に参加。中途半端に昔ながらのデジタル・テープを回した約3発録音(主に経済的理由による)。ボーナス・トラックには、スウィンギン・バッパーズのベーシストの牧裕氏がゲスト参加。
